こないだWheatのdeath carの歌詞のことが気になってるかたがいらしたので、お伝えしなければ！と思ったのにどこにも載ってない。MedeirosのCDにもLPにもdeath carの7インチにも。あ、iTunesの歌詞のとこに入れてたはず！と思って見てみてもない。ライブラリ移行のときに消えてたみたい。いつもフガフガ歌っているけどうろ覚えだし。なのでもうご本人に聞くかーと。この曲がほんとに好きすぎていろんなアカウント名に使ってるよとか伝えつつ、あとせっかくだから歌詞の意味はどんななの？って聞いてみた。

this was a funny look at a situation i was in once dating this woman (1/2 japanese actually) who’s dad wasn’t into me, my manner, and my being around his daughter. i thought about the duel and how it might go down… i fashioned myself all kinds of natural leveling destructions. not just like a beating, but a complete leveling ultimate!
in retrospect, he was pretty right on, since it never really got that heavy between his daughter and i…. still it made for great cinema for me in my hear and eventually deathcar.

こんなかんじでした。

手に入れやすさもあってHope and Adamsのほうが知名度高かったり、あときっとdon’t i hold youのほうが曲としての殺傷能力みたいの高いと思うんだけど、ぼくはdeath carがいちばん。それは1stから入っていて、1曲目から2曲目の流れに（3曲目以降ももちろんすばらし！）ほんとに衝撃を受けたという思い出があるからなのかな。やっぱり入りの（最初に聴く）作品ってすごく重要ね。いやもし2ndから入っていてもどうだろ。まいか。Medeirosは人生のトップ10にはぜったい入る。
再発もされているので、Wheat知らない/知ってるけどMedeirosは聴いたことないやというかたはぜひ聴いてみてもらえるとうれしいです。
